Arbaoua

Arbaoua is a small town in northern Morocco, in the region of Gharb- Chrarda- Beni Hsen or the province of Kenitra and also a major archaeological site of the ancient history of North Africa. The town is located 12 km from Ksar el -Kebir, along the road that connects this place with Kenitra.

In the surrounding area you will find one of the largest with 35,000 hectares of eucalyptus and oaks locations in Morocco, specifically from Quercus faginea Lamk. This type is found mainly in the far north of the country, Arbaoua is the southernmost distribution area on the Tangier peninsula.

History

A settlement was discovered here in the 1920s, who came from the Roman period and on a street lag.Ebenfalls from Roman times comes a Miliarium, which were discovered between Ksar el -Kebir and Arbaoua. It is one of the exceedingly rare Distance stones in the Roman province of Mauretania Tingitana.

On November 27, 1755 the earthquake of Meknes, which had similar destructive effects such as the unequal -known Lisbon earthquake of November 1 occurred.

During the French colonial period from 1912 Arbaoua was a frontier post against the Spanish north of the country.
