Arbor Day

The International Day of the tree goes back to activities of Julius Sterling Morton American journalist. 1872 he applied to the government of Nebraska Arbor Day Council Resolution which was adopted within 20 years in all states of the United States. Originally on April 10 trees will be planted since then. The Arbor Day is celebrated in April every year with ceremonies and to the importance of the forest for the people and the economy hold in consciousness.

The Arbor Day was decided on 27 November 1951 by the United Nations. The German " Arbor Day " was first celebrated on April 25, 1952. Federal President Theodor Heuss and the President of the German Forest Protection Association, Federal Minister Robert Lehr, planted a maple in Bonner Hofgarten. In Germany the Naturschutzbund Germany advertises on the day of the forest for his action " forest Godfather" to protect the forests and jungle near relics in Germany.
