Arcadio Larraona Saralegui

Arcadio María Cardinal Larraona Saralegui, CMF ( born November 13, 1887 in Oteiza de la Solana, Spain, † May 7, 1973 in Rome ) was a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Arcadio María Larraona Saralegui appeared in 1899 the Congregation of the Claretians in and studied in Lleida and the subjects of Rome Catholic theology and philosophy. In 1911 he received the sacrament of Holy Orders. He then worked until 1918 in various tasks of the pastoral care of his Order and operating alongside further studies. From 1918 to 1959 he was a lecturer at various Roman universities. At the same time he provided various offices in the administration of his order. He was an advisor of the Italian Province of the Order, Visitor in Germany, Assistant General for Italy, Central Europe and China.

1943 Pope Pius XII appointed him. to the Under Secretary, 1950 Secretary of the Congregation for Religious. Pope John XXIII. took Arcadio María Larraona Saralegui 1959 as cardinal deacon with the title Diakonia Sant Biaggio e Carlo ai Catinari in the College of Cardinals to. Three years later he gave him after the appointment of Titular Archbishop per hac vice of Diocaesarea in Isauria consecrated bishop and appointed him Prefect of the Congregation of Rites. From 1962 to 1965 Larraona Saralegui took part in the Second Vatican Council.

He died on 7 May 1973 in Rome and was at the Basilica of the Sacred cuore di Maria Immacolato ai Parioli, where the Ordensgeneralat Claretian is located, buried.
