Arch support

The insert ( alternatively: Fußeinlage or shoe insert, no footrest ) is used for medicinal purposes. It will be done by an orthopedic shoemaker or orthotist individually for each leg shapes.

First, a diagnosis must be created, which malposition ( splay, crease foot, flat foot, pes cavus, equinus ). Then, it is taken from the feet, an impression (plaster cast, again distinguished by loaded, unloaded, or blue print for insoles ).

Depending on a particular shape of the foot insert is used to achieve the desired purpose:

• Correction deposits (restoration of an original or desired state, according relieved plaster cast )
• Copy inserts ( relief and uniform pressure distribution over the contact area, contaminated by plaster cast )
• Weichbettungseinlagen ( step cushioning and avoid pressure peaks, to blue print )

Deposits differ greatly in the material, in the execution and in length. Suitable materials ( obsolete): aluminum, duralumin, wood, (current): Carbon, stainless steel, thermoplastic resins, cork, foam, each ( except stainless steel ) with leather or textile covers in consideration.

There are to the respective treatment purpose, inter alia, rimless deposits, shell deposits, deposits with the outer edge of the heel or hallux valgus deposits or sensorimotor deposits. Depending on the correction function to determine whether an increased supination or pronation of the forefoot or the heel is intended to support a corresponding wedge is attached below.

The supply by means of deposits is generally divided into: conservative therapy ( passive support) or as sensorimotor and proprioceptive therapy ( active treatment approach).
