Archibald Stinchcombe

Archibald " Archie " Stinchcombe ( born November 17, 1912 in Cudworth, UK, † November 3, 1994 in Nottingham, United Kingdom) was a British ice hockey player and coach, who in 1936 with his compatriot Olympic champion among others.

Career

Archie Stinchcombe played at club level for a long time in the English National League. From 1948 to 1955 he was head coach of the Nottingham Panthers, came to 1952, however, occasionally even as a player to use. With the team he won in 1951 and 1954 respectively the champion of the English National League. In 1951 and 1954 he was also elected as a coach in the All-Star B- team.

Internationally

For Britain took Stinchcombe part in the World Championships in 1937 and 1938. He also represented his country at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, where he won the gold medal with his team. The tournament was also counted as World and European Championships, which is why he also won with his team this title. Later, he was also in the British squad at the Olympic Winter Games in 1948 in St. Moritz. In 1951, he was inducted into the British Ice Hockey Hall of Fame.
