Archie Gemmill

Archibald " Archie " Gemmill (* March 24, 1947 in Paisley, Scotland ) is a former Scottish footballer who won three British championships with Derby County and Nottingham Forest.

Career

FC St. Mirren

Gemmills first station as a player the Scottish first division club FC St. Mirren was unstable due to many injuries. In his last season for his club St. Mirren rose as a table next to last into the second division. Archie Gemmill then moved for £ 13,000 to the English second division side Preston North End.

Preston North End

Gemmill, however, in early 1982 had been transferred during the season in the North American Soccer League to Jacksonville Tea Men. There he spent one season before moving back to England. His former teammate, Larry Lloyd had been taken over as coach at third division Wigan Athletic and convinced him of a change. His dortiger stay, however, was not permanent, because after just eleven games, he joined his former club Derby County. There, Peter Taylor took over as coach after his resignation at Nottingham Forest and then committed Gemmill.

After an average season 1982/83 for his now playing only in the second division club followed in 1983 /84 crash in the third league. After this enjoyable little game time Archie Gemmill ended his successful and rich title playing career.

Scottish national

In 43 appearances for Scotland, he was able to achieve eight goals and also belonged to the national team that took part in 1978 at the World Cup.
