Ardito Desio

Ardito Desio ( born April 18, 1897 in Palma Nova, Italy, † 12 December 2001) was an Italian explorer, mountaineer, geologist and cartographer.

Desio led in the years 1926-1940 through several geological investigations in Libya. He found together with other first oil in this country. In 1954 he led an expedition which was to climb on July 31, the first the K2 climbers Lino and Achille Compagnoni Lacedelli. In 1990, Desio a research station on Mount Everest. He died 104 years old in 2001.
