Arend Friedrich August Wiegmann
Arend Friedrich August Wiegmann ( born June 2, 1802 in Braunschweig, † January 15, 1841 ) was a German zoologist.
Life
The son of a pharmacist Arend Joachim Friedrich Wiegmann studied medicine and philology at the universities of Leipzig and Berlin. In Berlin, he was a member of the zoologist Martin Lichtenstein. He received in 1828 a professorship in Cologne before it, associate professor in Berlin two years. Wiegmann specializing in herpetology.
He was a teacher of the botanist and zoologist Rudolph Amandus Philippi.
He is the father of Carl Arend Friedrich Wiegmann malacologists ( 1836-1901 ).
