The Aréthuse class was a French class of hunting submarines. The submarines were built in the 1950s for the French Navy. The construction was under the influence of the German U - Boat Class XXIII.
The U- boats were used in the Mediterranean and were in service until 1981 and were replaced by the nuclear submarines of the Rubis class. The Argonaute is now a museum ship at the Parc de la Villette in Paris.
An enlarged development of the class was the end of the 1960 -built Daphne class.
