Argoba Nationality Democratic Organization

The Argoba Nationality Democratic Organization ( ANDO abbreviation; Amharic የአርጎባ ሕዝብ ዴሞክራሲያዊ ድርጅት Yeh - Argobba Həzb Demokrasiyawi Dərəǧǧət, German Democratic organization of Argobba - folk) is a regional political party in Ethiopia.

The ANDO was established by the coalition of the Revolutionary Democratic Front of the Ethiopian People ( EPRDF ), which ruled Ethiopia since the fall of the Derg regime in 1991. The stated goal of ANDO is to " ensure the rights of Argobba who have been deprived under the former regime of their identity and language." The party was officially registered on 16 November 2007, the party chairman is Abdulkadir Mohamed.

History

In the parliamentary elections in Ethiopia in 2005 amines Endiris Ebrahim was chosen as the representative of a constituency in the Semien Shewa Zone of the Amhara region.

In 2000, the party won two seats in the regional elections in the Regional Assembly of the Afar Region. These seats and votes shares could hold the party also in the general elections to regional parliaments in 2005. In the elections of 2008, the ANDO won all the 65 seats of the Special Argobba woredas and thus control of the Woreda. In addition, they received 260 seats in, and control of 13 kebeles in the woreda.

Meanwhile, originated with the Argoba People's Democratic Movement ( APDM ) an authority independent of the EPRDF Argobba party.
