Argus (king of Argos)

Argos (Greek Ἄργος, male ) is in the Greek mythology the founder of the eponymous city. His parents are Zeus and Niobe. He is thus the grandson of Phoroneus.

With his wife, Evadne, daughter of Strymon and Neaera, he had the children Peiros, Epidauros, Kriasos and Ekbasos. Pausanias mentions as other sons still Phorbas and Tiryns. Kriasos was the successor of Argos. Argos was buried in Argos. There was also a sacred grove where the hero was worshiped.
