Ariel Durant

Ariel Durant, born Chaya Kaufman ( born May 10, 1898 in Proskurov, Russia, today Ukraine, † October 25, 1981 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American writer.

Life

Born in the Russian Empire, the daughter of Joseph and Ethel Appel Kaufman, she moved with her mother in 1901 in the United States. With him, she wrote The Story of Civilization. For the tenth volume of this extensive cultural history, they received the 1968 Pulitzer Prize in the category of nonfiction.
