Arif Mirzayev

Arif Mirzoyev ( Azerbaijani Arif Abdulla oglu Mirzəyev; born April 10, 1944 in Baku, Soviet Union) is a Soviet, Russian, Azerbaijani composer, organist and pianist.

Life

Arif Mirzoyev grew up in Baku in a family of intellectuals on with old musical traditions. He completed his musical education at the State Conservatory and composers in Azerbaijan Qara Qarayev and studied theory and history of organ music at the Moscow Conservatory ( N. Malina, S. Dischur ). He also worked as a music teacher. Arif Mirsojews music was played by a number of well known artists ( F. Badalbeli, N. Gavrilova, N. Gureeva, L. Dedova, N. Kogan, M. Makarova, A. Markov, A. Sevidov, A. Slobodiannik, A. Fiseiski, N. Yashvili ).

Currently Arif Mirzoyev lives in Fulda.

Artistic Concept

Arif Mirzoyev connects as a composer in polystylistic way Western polyphony, oriental improvisation techniques ( Mughamat ) and music styles of various religious trends - of Islam and the Protestant and Catholic music. He was twice nominated for the State Prize of Russia (2000, 2002) in the field of art. He is an expert on the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and a member of the Composers' Union of Russia and Azerbaijan since 1979, the Societas Internationalis Bach (Leipzig, 1994).

Mirsojews main instrument is the organ, in addition he is also a composer of many chamber, vocal and jazz pieces.
