Arild Stubhaug

Arild Stubhaug ( born May 25, 1948 in Naustdal in Sunnfjord ) is a Norwegian author and historian of mathematics.

Stubhaug studied mathematics, literature and religion at the University of Bergen ( final Cand.Mag. ). He is known for biographies of Niels Henrik Abel (written during a stay at the Mittag-Leffler Institute etzteres ) ( where he worked since 1988), Sophus Lie and Gösta Mittag-Leffler. 2004 appeared his biography of the poet Conrad Nicolai Weak ( 1793-1860 ).

In 1970 he published his first collection of poems Utkantane and he also published prose.

In 2008 he received the Thor Leif Dahl price of the Norwegian Academy for Language and Literature, and in 1996 the Norwegian Brage Prize for his biography of Abel. In 2001 he received for his biography of the Norwegian language Lie Price (Norsk språkpris ) and 2010 he was awarded the Swedish Doblougprisen.
