Arinto

Arinto is a white grape variety. It is grown only in Portugal and is relatively old. It is similar because of their fine acidity Riesling, the two varieties, however, are not related. The variety is also called Padernao, Cerceal or Chapeludo. In Bucelas the white wine " Bucelas " is pressed, and be the proportion of Arinto must in these wines at least 75 %. Also, the Vinho Verde contains Arinto grapes.

The variety is profitable weak and susceptible to raw rot. Due to the good quality of white wines produced from the area under their area in Portugal is located at 2300 hectares.

The grape variety Arinto is known ( in Spain) under the name Arintho, Arintho you Dão, Arinto Cachudo, Arinto Galego, Assario Branco, Boal Cachudo, Cerceal, Chapeludo, Malvasia Fina, Padernao and Pedreña.

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In the ampelography the habit is described as follows:

  • The shoot tip is open. She is hairy white wool. The young leaves are yellowish and bronze mottled ( Anthocyanflecken ).
  • The large dark green leaves ( see also the article sheet form) are weak five-lobed. The petiole is closed lyre -shaped. The blade is serrated blunt.
  • The bunch is medium to large in size. The roundish to slightly oval berries are medium to large in size and of a golden yellow color.

Arinto is a variety of the noble vine (Vitis vinifera ). It has hermaphrodite flowers and is thus self- fruiting. When the wine-growing economic drawback is avoided, no return delivered to male plants need to grow.
