Arjuna-Asteroid

Arjuna asteroids belong to the class of near-Earth asteroids (English near- Earth asteroid, NEA), a group of near-Earth objects ( engl. Near-Earth object, NEO ).

Characteristic of asteroids of this class is its Earth-like orbit with a low orbital inclination, low eccentricity and current durations of about one Earth year. Therefore, asteroids of this rare class with relatively little effort (delta v) from the Earth can be reached.

Unlike the other three type classes the Arjuna class (see the eponymous asteroid 1221 Amor, 1862 Apollo, and 2062 Aten ) was not named after an asteroid, but from a character in Hindu mythology: Arjuna, the son of the sky god Indra and Queen Kunti.
