History

Advanced RISC Machines Limited. was established in 1989 with the outsourcing of the processor division from the company Acorn. Acorn retained 43% share in the new company, an additional 43 % held Apple, 7% VLSI (until then the only producer of the ARM chipset and then first licensee of ARM) and the remaining 7 % Nippon Investment and Finance.
