The Armant is an Egyptian breed of dog that is not recognized by the FCI.
Origin and History
The armies of Napoleon brought the ancestor of Briard Type to Egypt, where he mingled with domestic dogs. The name is derived from the city of Armant in northern Egypt. Today, it is due to the ravages of war in the 20th century, not sure that there is still this type; Travelers report that they had found him yet, but in a wide variety.
Description
Large, square powerful dog with a wide muzzle and shaggy fur. The ears are small and standing or be worn as Kippohr. Often head of hair, catching and forechest are white. It is used both as a herding dog as a guard dog. Due to their patron behavior, these dogs are sometimes called in Arabic also Sabe, Leo.
