Armen Vardanyan

Poor Frunsekowitsch Vardanyan (Armenian Արմեն Վարդանյան; born November 30, 1982 in Zaporizhia ) is an Armenian or Ukrainian wrestler. He was European champion in Greco-Roman wrestling in 2004 and 2008 at lightweight.

Career

Poor Wardanjan comes before Armenian parents, but grew up in Zaporozhye (Ukraine ) and began at the age of 10 years in 1992 with the rings. He concentrated on the Greco-Roman. Style and was introduced to the world leaders by his coach Murat Sarkisian already at junior level. His club was then Dynamo Zaporozhye. Until 1998, he competed for Armenia. In 1999 he went to Kiev, where he studied sports and went to the starting line for the sport club BK Kiev and the Ukraine. His coach was there Ewgeni Chertkov.

His first great success on the international wrestling mat he garnered a in 1998, when he at the World Youth Games in Moscow in the Cadets ( = up to the age of 16 ) in the class to 57 kg body weight ( bantamweight ) the second occupied space. In 2000 he raced in Moscow for the first time at the European Championship at featherweight. He had to learn the hard way there but still pay and only came to the 9th rank. For this he was in the same year in Nantes Junior European Featherweight Champion, which he in Tashkent added the Vice World Champion title in the junior category at lightweight in 2001.

In 2001 he was again at the European Championship in Istanbul at the start, but lost his first fight there, was eliminated and finished only 19th place.

In 2003 he was again at the European Championships in Belgrade in lightweight at the start. He won his first four fights there, but then lost the final to the experienced Turkish champion Şeref Eroğlu with 2:5 points and thus became vice - European champion.

In 2004, he then succeeded in Haparanda / Finland the first title. He was charged with five wins in superior style European champions. But at the Olympic Games this year in Athens, he was able to win a medal. Again he was defeated by Şeref Eroğlu, this time even with 0:5 points.

In 2005 poor was Vardanyan at the European Championships in Varna and at the World Championships in Budapest at the start. In Varna, he won the lightweight just a fight, but was defeated by Nikolai Gergow from Bulgaria and surprisingly well against Moises Sanchez Parra from Spain and reached only the 12th Place. In Budapest it was better. Here he won, among others but on the Swedish former world champion Jimmy Samuelsson, was beaten Nikola Gergow again. In the battle for third place, he was also subject to the Cubans Alain Milián and reached the final statement of the 5th Place.

In the years 2006 and 2007 arms Vardanyan has not been used in international championships. But in April 2008 he was again at the European Championships in Tampere there and won, more than ever, with five wins his second European title.
