ARMIGER

ARMIGER (English Anti Radiation Missile with Intelligent Guidance & Extended Range for anti-radar missile with intelligent steering and extended range ) was the name for an air - to-ground missile to combat radar systems, specifically by anti-aircraft missile systems. Based on the air - to-air missile Meteor this missile should be developed including as a potential replacement for the AGM -88 HARM, the German arms manufacturer Diehl BGT Defence. Thanks to the low weight of the ARMIGER compared to HARM the carrier aircraft ( Tornado ECR) can carry a maximum of 4 ARMIGER (instead of 2 HARM ).

Like the meteor would have ARMIGER a combination of rocket and solid - ramjet propulsion used to achieve a wide range at high speeds. To control a developed at EADS seeker was planned with a broadband radar receiver and an infrared sensor head. A GPS / INS navigation system would have to determine their own position in space, equipped with a passive radar sensor and the IR Endanflugsteuerung to enable a combat target without radar radiation. The ARMIGER has a hit deviation of about 1m, with the ammunition contributes with combined effect (CEM ) significantly to the achieved results deviation. This is technically far ahead of the other ARMIGER ANTI- radar missiles, mainly because the use the built up area is now possible without causing collateral damage.

The development of ARMIGER was from the German - French cooperation program Aramis until France got out of the project.

The project was recently in a technology demonstration program and was then adjusted.
