Armin Niederer

Armin Niederer (born 28 February 1987) is a Swiss freestyle skis. He specializes in the discipline of ski cross.

Biography

Niederer was the beginning of his career in sport of alpine ski racer one, but remained without major success. From January 2003 to April 2005, he participated in FIS races, the best result was a 33rd place. In the season 2006/ 07 he moved to freestyle ski cross discipline. His debut in the Freestyle World Cup had Niederer on 10 January 2007 in Flaine, where he drove to 27th place and won the first World Cup points. Two months later he won the bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in Airolo. His best World Cup result in the following season 2007/ 08 was a 18th place.

In January 2009, Niederer met the first time in the top ten, and on 20 March 2009 he was second in the World Cup race of La Plagne for the first time on the podium. The following winter he could not quite maintain this level, which is why he missed qualifying for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. In the season 2010/11 he was able to record another podium finish at the World Championships in Deer Valley, he was ninth. On December 8, 2012 in Nakiska he achieved his first World Cup victory, nine days later, the second in Val Thorens. In the meantime, he led the World Cup discipline standings, but then had to leave Alex Fiva go by. With a total of five podium finishes, it was still his most successful season. At the World Championships in 2013, he failed by a fall already in the qualification.

In the World Cup Winter 2013/14 Niederer scored three podiums, while he finished seventh at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
