Army of Mainz

The Armée de Mayence ( German: Army of Mainz) was a revolutionary army of the First French Republic was founded in 1797. She took part in the fighting against the coalition forces of old Europe.

Emergence and development

The Armée de Mayence was ( Frimaire to VI 19 ) was formed, which was implemented on 14 and 16 December, with a Regulation of 9 December 1797. This Regulation divided the Armée d' Allemagne in the Armée de Mayence and the Armée du Rhin ( Rhine Army ). Further restructuring followed later. By another decree of February 3, 1799 (15 pluviose an VII), implemented between 4 and 9 February, created a new army. This was formed with the Armee d' Observation addition to complement the Armée de Mayence. Commission Regulation of 28 March 1799 remained the fraction of the Armée d' observation, after the construction of the Armée du Danube, in the Armée de Mayence
