Ãrni Mathiesen
Árni Mathiesen Matthias ( born October 2, 1958 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic politician ( Independence Party ) and was between 2005 and 2009 Finance Minister of Iceland.
Life
The son of former minister Matthías Mathiesen studied until 1983 Veterinary Medicine at the University of Edinburgh. Then he specialized in marine animals and made 1985 the Master of Science in fish pathology at the University of Stirling. The following years he worked as a veterinarian.
In 1991 he was member of the Icelandic parliament Althingi. He was Minister of Fisheries 1999 and 2005 he moved to the Ministry of Finance. 2009 Steingrímur J. Sigfússon his successor.
