Arnold Huber

Arnold Huber ( born September 11, 1967 in Bruneck ) is a former luger and bobsledder from Italy. It belongs to the luger and Bobfamilie Huber from South Tyrol.

Life

Arnold Huber is the son of Emil Huber and Emma Gruber. He was born in the mountain village Hörschwang above the Montal in "Bad Badl ". He has six siblings: Adelheid, Norbert ( a former star athlete and hotelier ), Günther ( a former star athlete and Carabinieri ), Ingrid, Wilfried ( successful athlete and Carabinieri ) and Dietmar.

With eight years Arnold Huber won his first race on the natural track. He won the first race in the junior class for itself. This was followed by some major successes on the natural track in the Italian Championship, Fisi race and at the Youth World Games " giochi della gioventù ".

With 16 years in 1984, Huber replaced after request of the coach Peter Plaikner after the brothers Norbert and Günther on the artificial track. In the same year he qualified for the Junior World Championships in the single-seater in Bludenz (Austria ), where he finished ninth. In the doubles competition allowed the duo H. Moroder / A. Huber does not participate after a decision by the then coach due to serious injury. In the same year his coach Peter Plaikner was killed in a traffic accident.

In the following years after a successful race, he was inducted into the sports group of the forest guard. In the fall of 1987 he moved to the sports group of the Carabinieri. In 1988 he was called to form the Carabinieri and could only play two races.

In 1991 there were some inconsistencies by changing the coaching staff and in some athletes were partly not nominated in races. In 1995, Huber for bobsled team as a pilot in two and four man. 1997 Huber injured in a race and had to pause for the rest of the season and 1998.

Despite his long career as an athlete from 1984 to 2002 Huber could enter only once at the Olympics, where he finished in fourth place in 1994. In Luge World Championships he was four times at the start and took a first, a second and two third places.

In 2002 he finished the sports career. For the Italian Winter Sports Federation, he currently works as a trainer and promotes Frauenbobmannschaft the Olympic champions Weißensteiner / Buletti / Isacco, the talents of the A- team of Italian men and boys team.
