Arnold of Altena
Arnold of Altena (* probably before 1150, † May 3, 1206, 1207 or 1209) was Count of Altena and a son of Eberhard I of Berg- Altena.
He left with his brother Archbishop Adolf of Berg- Altena build the Isenburg near Hattingen and had many properties. He is regarded as the founder of Berg Altena - Isenberg line.
His son Friedrich von Isenberg went down in history as the murderer of Archbishop Engelbert I of Cologne. Other sons were the Bishop of Osnabrück Engelbert I of Isenberg and the Bishop of Münster Dietrich III. Isenberg. They were also involved in the murder.
Marriage and issue
Arnold married Matilda, daughter of Florence III. of Holland.
