ARP 2600

The ARP 2600 is an analog, monophonic semi- modular synthesizer from the 1970s, manufactured by ARP Instruments.

The semi- modular design is that many of the modules were already wired internally, others, however, also could connect itself via patch cables. For the sound generation provide three VCOs and VCF selbstoszillierendes. In addition, the ARP has a spring reverb that can be used on the housing for experimental sound production including by light blows. The ARP 2600 has a funky sound and is therefore used by many musicians to this day, including Brian Eno, Klaus Schulze, Jean Ven Robert Hal, Herbie Hancock, Vince Clarke, Depeche Mode, Jean Michel Jarre, Blancmange or Freddy Fresh, whereby the instrument today enjoys cult status.

For some years there is a software emulation for modern operating systems (Windows XP, Linux and Mac OS X).

Some of the voice of the robot R2 -D2 in the Star Wars movies created with an ARP 2600.
