Arrhenia

Spatula vein moss Ling ( Arrhenia spathulata )

The core pieces of moss ( Arrhenia ) is a fungal genus in the family Schneck Ling relatives whose types are associated with mosses and / or algae. The nabelingsartigen, spatulate or membranous fruit bodies have either a lamelliges, aderiges or hymenophore smooth and grayish pigments.

The type species is the Gloomy vein moss Ling ( Arrhenia auriscalpium ). P.312

Features

Macroscopic characteristics

The hat is 1-50 mm wide and spatulate, cup -, kidney -, fan-or shell- shaped. Also stalked fruiting bodies with a funnel-shaped or curved to flat-out cap with more or less depressed center occur. The hat surface is smooth to finely rippled procure, translucent striate or not, gray - brown to almost black, and rarely with blue hues. The slats are missing, veined pronounced or developing normally. They run on a stick down, are mostly removed to each other, sometimes bifurcate or are queraderig linked. They have a gray to gray - brown color. The spore powder is white. The stem is either missing or is sideways, decentralized or centrally grow at the hat. To measure 2-70 x 0.5-6 mm, has a cylindrical shape and compressed to a smooth or fluffy stem bark. The color is consistent with the hat or is paler. The thin meat ( Trama ) tastes nonspecific, but smells significantly after geraniums.

Microscopic characteristics

The spores are roughly spherical, elliptical, egg-shaped, almond-shaped, cylindrical or teardrop shaped. They are transparent ( hyaline ), smooth, thin-walled, show with the addition of Iodreagenzien no color reaction ( inamyloid ) and can not be with cotton blue stain ( acyanophil ). The spores stand ( basidia ) are 2 - or 4- sporig. The cystidia on the fins cutting ( cheilocystidia ) mostly missing, otherwise they have a simple cylindrical or club-shaped to slender bottle-like shape. Furthermore, the elements are transparent and thin-walled. On the other hand, lamellar surfaces never come Zystiden before ( pleurocystidia ). The stem bark has no cystidia ( Kaulozystiden ), but there are often cylindrical to club-shaped, short to long hair. The Hutdeckschicht ( Pileipellis ) is a cutis or a weakly developed Trichoderma. The pigment is usually inkrustierend. Buckles are either present or absent.

Ecology and phenology

Core pieces of moss live saprobiontisch or parasitic on mosses. They commonly grow on bare soil with pioneer vegetation in the mountains, heathland, bogs and open grasslands. They rarely colonize wood in forests, but never the deciduous and coniferous litter.

The fruiting bodies appear in favorable weather throughout the year, either individually or in groups.

Species

The genus includes about 60 species worldwide. In Europe, 35 taxa occur or are expected there.

Origin of the name

The German Vernakularname " vein moss Ling " refers to the often only veined distinct lamellae of the fruiting body and the socialization of fungal species with mosses. The scientific name " Arrhenia " honors the Swedish mycologist Johan Arrhenius.
