Arrilaser

The Arrilaser is a digital film recorder, by the Munich Film Equipment Manufacturer Arnold & Richter Cine Technik ( ARRI short ) was developed in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Physical Measurement Techniques (IPM ). The film recorder was introduced in 2000 and replaced earlier systems that worked with cathode ray tubes.

The Arrilaser digitally imaged material present on 35 mm film in the primary colors red, green and blue using three lasers. The areal density per frame thereby achieved both 2K and 4K resolution. So that the device covers the entire current professional segment. The starting material can be played by mobile hard disk or via the data cable.

The developer Franz Kraus, Johannes Steurer and Wolfgang Riedel received in 2002 the technical Oscar (Oscar / Science and Development) of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the Arrilaser. At the awards ceremony on 11 February 2012 was followed by the highest form of art in the form of Oscar Oscar / Academy Award of Merit.
