The Braundrossling ( Turdoides jardineii ) is a species of bird in the family of babblers ( Timaliidae ).

Description

The Braundrossling has a uniformly dark brown plumage, interspersed on chest with white bars. Characteristic is the yellow eye with a red border. The adult animal reaches a size 21 to 24 cm.

The appearance of male and female birds is the same. Young birds have a brown instead of yellow eye. In addition, the white line pattern is less pronounced on the chest.

Habitat

The Braundrossling is found in forests and scrubland. Its distribution area is the south- eastern Africa ( north- eastern South Africa, eastern Botswana, Zimbabwe, southern Mozambique). It is widespread and not in danger. The Braundrossling lives in groups of up to 12 birds.
