Arthies
Arthies is a commune with 304 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Val- d'Oise in the Île- de -France region. The residents ' Arthésiens " call themselves.
Geography
The place is located about 50 km north-west of Paris. The D 983 ( Gisors - Magny -en- Vexin - Mantes- la -Jolie ) through the town. Neighboring communities of Arthies are Maudétour -en- Vexin in the northwest, Wy -dit- Joli -Village in the north, the east and Gadancourt Aincourt southwest. The municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park Vexin français.
History
The discovery of a villa rustica testifies to the settlement during the Roman period. Under the name " Artegiæ " Arthies is first handed in documents in the year 690. By the end of the Ancien Régime, the place belonged to the manor of La Roche- Guyon.
