Arthur Hind (industrialist)

Arthur Hind ( born February 4, 1856 in Bradford, † 1933 in Miami) was American industrialist and philatelist.

Hind was industrialist in the textile industry and was wearing a very valuable stamp collection together. He only started properly collecting, when he emigrated from England to the United States in 1890. He earned the 1922 Bordeaux Letter from Alfred F. Lichtenstein for 7,500 British pounds. From the collection of Philipp von Ferrary he also acquired in 1922, the unique British Guiana 1 ¢ magenta to the then record price for $ 36,000, today equivalent to $ 519,956.15. His widow sold the brand in 1940 for $ 40,000, what would today correspond to $ 690,396.19.
