Arthur Wontner

Arthur Wontner ( born January 21, 1875 in London, England; † July 10, 1960 ) was a British actor.

Life

The big, bossy acting Wontner made ​​his first experiences on stage in 1897, and came in 1915 to film. Particularly well known he was by his restrained interpretation of the detective Sherlock Holmes in five films created 1931-1938. From the widow of Arthur Conan Doyle, he was known as the actor who had come close to the original. Later he moved to supporting roles.
