The Asagaya Station (Japanese阿佐ヶ谷 駅, -eki Asagaya ) is located in Suginami located in Tokyo, Japan.

History

On 15 July 1922, the station was opened as a passenger railway station in the state Nippon Kokuyū tetsudō. Since 22 September 1964, the station is expanded to four tracks and moved to its current state. The station went on 1 April 1989 the property of JR Higashi- Nihon about which emerged in the privatization of the former state railway. Since 18 November 2001, the Suica is accepted as an electronic ticket in the station.

Design and tracks

The station was built as a through station, the most common type of a train station. The railway tracks are located on the concourse in an elevated position above street level. The tracks run in an east-west direction. They share the station in four platform tracks, which enclose two central platforms. The platforms are permanently assigned to two train lines and be approached as follows:

The colors used in the table below correspond to the loans granted by the JR East lines of color codes. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays only holds the Chūō - sobu - line at the station.

Use

In 2008, the station from an average of 44 699 passengers was used on the day, so that the rank 96 took over 900 on the ranking of the busiest train stations of JR East in 2008.
