Ascheberg, Schleswig-Holstein

Mountain ash (Holstein) is a municipality in the district of Plön, in Schleswig- Holstein.

Geography

Ash Mountain is located on the north- western shore of the Great Plön Lake in Holstein Switzerland Nature Park. This area, with its numerous lakes belongs to the natural environment of the East Holstein hill country and created during the last ice age.

History

The shores of the Great Plön Lake (ca. 10000-4300 BC) used in the Middle Stone Age hunters, gatherers and fishermen.

Since the Neolithic period (ca. 4300-2300 BC) lived on the Bronze Age (c. 2300-550 BC) to the Iron Age (ca. 550 BC -400 AD) more or less continuously farmers in present-day municipality.

The area around the Lake Plön was from 8 AD to the 12th century AD Slavic settlement area.

Mountain ash is first mentioned in 1190 as Askeberghe ( Mountain Ash ). The name referred initially only on the Gutsbezirk and was then transferred over time to the place.

Since the 13th century there existed a knight's seat, which was acquired in the mid- 15th century by the family Rantzau. 1739 Hans Graf began to Rantzau, who lived at Castle Mountain ash, pick up the first landowner in Holstein serfdom its farmers. The Count divided the fields of property on, leaving the peasants the land and got it from them an interest. At this time a major revamp of the plant in the Baroque style was planned, the plans were not implemented. In the 19th century the castle came to the family of Count Brockdorff - Ahlefeld. Today's Aschenberger castle, a simple classicist building from the 19th century, is used as a Christian youth leisure and recreation center.

The permission to build the Aschenberger station was granted in 1846. In early 1989, the station building was sold in private hands.

In 1928, the municipality of mountain ash formed from the major part of the dissolved Gutsbezirks mountain ash and the community Langenrade. 1930 a part of the community Kalübbe is incorporated.

In 1954, Michael's Church was built to a design by architect Kiel Schnittger.

1 January 2014 Mountain Ash stepped out of the office from Greater Ploen Lake and has since been managed by the town of Plön.

Policy

Of the 17 seats in the municipal council has the voter community AFW since the local elections in 2013 six seats, the CDU and the SPD have a five seats and the FDP.

Economy and Transport

By train ash mountain is accessible via the route Lübeck- Kiel. The route to Neumünster is shut down since 1985.
