Ascrib Islands
The Ascrib Islands are a group of islands in the north of the Inner Hebrides in Scotland. They are in the hole Snizort between the peninsulas Waternish and Trotternish in the north- west of the Isle of Skye.
The following islands belong to this group ( from north to south ):
- Eilean Iosal
- Eilean Creagach
- Sgeir a ' Chuain
- Sgeir a ' Chapuill
- Eilean Garave
- South Ascrib
- Scalp rock
In South Ascrib, the largest island, is an uninhabited house. In the late 1990s, the islands were for sale. They were followed by Baron Palumbo (actually: Peter Garth Palumbo ) purchased.
The Islands, Isay Ascrib and the Loch Dunvegan form a conservation area to protect the living there seals (Phoca vitulina) since 2005.
