Åsgårdstrand

Åsgårdstrand is an association founded in the 16th century seaside resort on the Oslo Fjord in Vestfold in Norway.

Åsgårdstrand was a politically independent municipality until 1965 and has since been divided between the municipalities of Tønsberg and Horten for the most part.

Åsgårdstrand has become known worldwide as an artist colony. The most famous artists who lived and worked here, were Edvard Munch, Christian Krohg and Hans Heyerdahl. The summer home of Edvard Munch is preserved as a small museum.
