The Ashgabat opened in 1994, Airport ( IATA: ASB, ICAO code: UTAA; official Turkmen Name: Saparmurat Turkmenbashi adyndaky halkara aeroporty to the Turkmenenführers Saparmurat German airport) is one of three international airport in the Central Asian republic of Turkmenistan.

It is located about 10 km north- west of the capital Ashgabat suburbs and has only one terminal building. There are three take-off and landing runways with lengths of 1800-3800 meters, of which the longest ( 12L/30R ) is equipped with the instrument landing system (ILS ).

The airport is the home base of the national airline Turkmenistan Airlines.

Airlines and destinations

The airport is connected by several airlines with numerous mainly European destinations. Largest airline site is here Headquartered Turkmenistan Airlines, which offers, for example, connections to Kiev, London, Moscow and Bangkok. From the German-speaking Ashgabat is currently served by Lufthansa and Turkmenistan Airlines from Frankfurt am Main.
