Ashwood (Victoria)

Ashwood is a district in the southeast of the Australian city of Melbourne. It is located about 14 km from the city center.

Ashwood was developed in the period after the Second World War. 1949 a post office was opened; at the time the district was known as Ashburton East. 1951 had 1,500 inhabitants of the district.

The name of the district derives from the name of the neighboring districts of Ashburton and Burwood.
