Asics Corporation is a globally operating Japanese sports shoe and apparel brand, which was founded in 1949 in Kobe, Japan from Kihachiro Onitsuka under the name Onitsuka Tiger. The company makes about 1.6 billion euros and has about 5,350 employees, spread over a main companies and 14 Japanese and nine foreign subsidiaries.

Today Asics is the fifth largest brand in the sports shoe market with offices around the world. Annual sales in Germany is about 85 million euros.
