Asier del Horno

Asier del Horno Cosgaya ( born January 19, 1981 in Barakaldo ) is a Spanish footballer who is Unemployed since July 2012.

Career

Association

Asier del Horno, who came from Barakaldo in the Basque Country, went through all the youth teams of the Basque flagship club Athletic Bilbao and made his debut on 9 September 2000 in the first team.

In July 2005, the play and combative left-back joined for twelve million euros for English club Chelsea in London. In his first season he won the English championship and the English League Cup.

Only a year later del Horno Chelsea left again and moved back to Spain to Valencia. He signed a six-year contract and in turn cost twelve million euros. In his first season he struggled with injuries, so that he could contest only six games. For the season 2007/ 08 del Horno first moved back on loan to his hometown club Athletic Bilbao. By the end of the season the club also had an option to purchase in the amount of three million euros. In Bilbao, great hopes were placed in del Horno, but he should resolve the acute in the last two seasons immune deficiency. As Athletic Bilbao was not satisfied with his services, the purchase option was not taken. Therefore, the native Basque had to go back to Valencia, where he came only very rarely. On 30 January 2010, he moved to the end of the 2009/10 season on loan to Real Valladolid.

For the 2010/11 season he was loaned to Levante UD.

National

Since September 3, 2004, when he made his debut against Scotland, the man played on the left wing in the dress of the Spanish national team. He played ten matches and originally stood in the squad for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. However, an injury forced him to cancel participation. For him, Mariano Andrés Pernía was re-nominated. Since his injury, he played no more play for the Spanish national team.
