Askar Zhumagaliyev

Askar Kuanyschewitsch Schumagalijew ( Kazakh Асқар Қуанышұлы Жұмағалиев, Russian Аскар Куанышевич Жумагалиев; born August 2, 1972 in Orenburg Oblast, RSFSR ) is a Kazakh politician and, since January 2012 Transport and Communications Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Biography

Schumagalijew graduated from the Suvorov Military School in Russia's Sverdlovsk and then began studying at a military college in Kharkov, he commenced his studies after the collapse of the Soviet Union at the Kazakh National Technical University Almaty. He also made ​​a second degree at the Kazakh University of Humanities and Law in Astana and left the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne with a degree Executive Master in e-Governance.

Before entering government service, he was from 1996 to 1998 director of the Kazakh satellite operator Zharyk. In January 2001, was employed in the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan and 2004 to 2005 he was Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Informatization and Communication.

He was appointed Minister of the newly created Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan through a Decree of the President Nursultan Nazarbayev on March 12, 2010. Askar Kuanyschewitsch Schumagalijew is married with Mami Ajnur Kajratkysy and has a son and a daughter.
