AskoziaPBX

AskoziaPBX is an open source firmware for telephone systems. It is a fork of the m0n0wall project and uses the Asterisk software private branch exchange ( PBX) to implement PBX functionality.

Originally released under a BSD license restricted, AskoziaPBX been published since version 2.1 only under a commercial license. In addition, however, a "diet " version for testing purpose is offered. This has full functionality, but is limited to two simultaneous calls.

History

AskoziaPBX was started by Michael Iedema than proof-of -concept project at the Ostfalia University in Wolfenbüttel in 2007.

The aim of the project was to demonstrate the feasibility of an embedded telephone system firmware based on open -source software that provides a high degree of user friendliness.

Since 2011 AskoziaPBX is further developed by Benjamin Nicola Lüken and Sebastian Kaiser.

Main functionality

AskoziaPBX is configured with a web-based user interface. It allows the configuration and integration of analog, ISDN and VoIP telephones. PBX features such as voicemail, conference calls, parking, forwarding, Fax2Mail and text -to-speech support. Additional functionality can be added by Asterisk Applications or the Call Flow Editor. The Call Flow Editor is an additional software module for AskoziaPBX that allows the user to complex scenarios such as to create Hold and IVR Systems.

AskoziaPBX runs on systems above 200 MHz and 64 MB RAM.

Internationalization

The firmware and the project are internationalized. The configuration interface, voice announcements and notifications have been translated into many languages. English, German, Italian, Spanish, French and Dutch are the most complete; with less complete translations such as Chinese, Japanese, Polish, Danish and Swedish.

AskoziaPBX is used in over 175 countries.
