Aspasia Manos

Aspasia Manos ( born September 4, 1896 in Athens, † August 7, 1972 in Venice) was the wife of King Alexander I of Greece.

Aspasia was the daughter of the Greek General and Chief of the Royal stables Petros Manos (1871-1918) and his wife Maria ARGYROPOULOU (1874-1930) was born. Born into a noble family phanariotischen, she married on November 4, 1919 King Alexander I and led henceforth the title of Princess Aspasia ( Πριγκίπισσα Ασπασία ). On October 25, 1920 her husband died as a result of blood poisoning, which he had suffered because of a monkey bite. At this time she was already pregnant and gave birth on March 25, 1921 her only child, Princess Alexandra, the future wife of Peter II of Yugoslavia.

It was first buried in the cemetery of San Michele in Venice and later transferred to the Royal Cemetery in Tatoi, where she was buried beside her daughter.
