The Aspidorhynchidae are an extinct family of bony fish ( Osteichthyes ). They stand alone in order Aspidorhychiformes and lived from the Middle Jurassic to the Cretaceous.

Features

The fish ähneltem with their elongated body and pointed snout today garfish ( Belonidae ). Her body was still covered with the primeval Ganoidschuppen. Dorsal and anal fins were short and were located in the rear quarter of the hull symmetrically opposite. The pelvic fins were located just behind the middle of the body. The Aspidorhynchidae were up to a meter long. It was probably fast predators.
