Assembly of Kosovo

The Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo (Albanian Kuvendi i Republikës së Kosovës; Serbian Skupštine Republike Kosove / Скупштине Републике Косове ) is the legislature of Kosovo. It has 120 members who are elected every four years by the people. The parliamentary seat is located in the capital Pristina.

Powers and composition

The powers of Parliament in the Constitution of Kosovo, which entered into force on 15 June 2008 set. The Assembly is the state legislative body. It comprises 120 seats, of which the Serbian ethnic group are at least ten seats guaranteed. The other minorities in Kosovo - Roma, Ashkali and Balkan - Egyptians ( together four), Bosniaks (three), Turks (two) and Gorani ( a ) - a total of ten more seats are reserved.

Parliament elects the President and the Prime Minister also determined. Constitutional changes can only be made by a two- thirds majority of all votes, including two -thirds of the votes of minority representatives. The Bureau shall consist of a President and two deputies. The latter must belong to a minority.

The voting age is 18 years. President of the Parliament since 2011 Jakup Krasniqi (NK ).
