Assin North Municipal District

Assin North District is one of 13 districts in the Central Region of Ghana. It is bordered by the districts of Assin South, Twifo / Heman / Lower Denkyira, Upper Denkyira and Asikuma / Odoben / Brakwa in the Central Region. Furthermore, the district borders the Eastern Region with the district Birimian South and to the Ashanti Region with the district Adansi South. Chief Executive of the district is Kwabena Karikari Appau in the capital Assin Fosso.

The Assin North was only founded in 2004 by decree of 12 November 2003 by President John Agyekum Kufuor of the former District Assin. Also from this former district of the Assin South District was formed.

Constituencies

In the district of Assin North in an eponymous constituency was established. In the constituency Assin North, Ken Ohene Agyapong won for the party New Patriotic Party (NPP ) in the 2004 parliamentary elections the seat in the Ghanaian parliament.
