Associação Atlética Ponte Preta

Ponte Preta, officially Associação Atlética Ponte Preta is a Brazilian football club based in Campinas, state of São Paulo. The club colors are black and white, the mascot is a monkey - hence the nickname of the club Macaca.

The club was founded on 11 August 1900 by the student Miguel " Migue " do Carmo, Luiz " Gigette " Garibaldi Burghi and Antonio " Tonico Campeão " de Oliveira. The club was standing by a black painted bridge near the founding place, the " Ponte Preta ," the named "Black Bridge ". Ponte preta first president was Pedro Vieira da Silva.

In 1951, the club amateur champion of the state of São Paulo was, and remained over 45 games unbeaten away. 1970, 1977, 1979, 1981 and 2008 AA Ponte Preta runner-up of the state of São Paulo. In the national cup competition, the Copa do Brasil, Ponte Preta was a semifinalist in 2001. In the national football championship in 1981, the club was third after the narrowest of margins failed with 2:3 and 1:0 at the eventual champions Gremio FB Porto Alegrense in the semifinals.

As the star of the club's history is true of the highly talented midfielder Oscar Sales Bueno Filho " Dicá ", who worked as the defender José Oscar Bernardi "Oscar" and the goalkeeper Carlos Roberto Gallo "Carlos" in the successful 1970 for AA Ponte Preta.

Stadium

The club plays its home games at the Estádio Moisés Lucarelli, which has a capacity of 19 722 spectators from. The Majestoso also called football stadium was opened on 12 September 1948, and at that time the third largest stadium in Brazil. The attendance record was set on August 17, 1970 in a game against Santos FC with 33,500 spectators.
