Associazione Guide e Scouts Cattolici Italiani

The Associazione Guide e Scouts Cattolici Italiani ( AGESCI, Association of Catholic Guides and Scouts in Italy ) is the largest Scout Association in Italy. The coeducational association has about 177,000 members. About the Federazione Italiana dello Scautismo is the AGESCI member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts and the World Organization of the Scout Movement.

The association was created in 1974 by the merger, which was founded in 1916 Associazione Italiani Scouts Cattolici and founded in 1943 Associazione Guide Italiane.

Connected to the AGESCI are two minority groups:

  • The South Tyrolean Scout Association for the German -speaking minority in South Tyrol and
  • Slovenska Zamejska Skavtska Organizacija for the Slovene minority in Friuli Venezia Giulia.

The AGESCI works in three age groups:

  • Lupetti e Coccinelle (L / C, Cub Scouts and ladybug ) for children between 8 and 12 years
  • Esploratori s Guide (E / G; Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts ) for children and adolescents aged 11 to 16 years
  • Rover Scolte e (R / S; Rover and Ranger ) for young people between 16 and 21 years

Older members work as a group leader ( Capi ) or go to the Movimento Adulti Scout Cattolici Italiani (comparable to the Scout Guild of Austria in Austria and the Association of German Altpfadfindergilden in Germany ). The MASCI is a member of the International Scout and Guide Fellowship ( ISFG ).
