Assumpsit

As assumpsit or action of assumpsit is called in English law an earlier form of action for damages ( damages ) for breach of contract.

History

Originally knew the legal action, English law no action for breach of contract. There were only the action of covenant and the action of debt to enforce promises available. In the 16th century, from the action of trespass ultimately developed the action for non-performance of the contract.

The Common Law Procedure Act 1852, the action legal system of the forms of action were abolished.
