Assumptionists

The Assumptionists, Pia Societas Presbytero from Assumptione, Augustiniani from Assumptione, Congregation of the Augustines de l' Assumption, are a Catholic religious men who live according to the Rule of St. Augustine. The medal name comes from the Latin " assumptio ", which recording ( the Assumption ) means that their religious symbol is AA.

It was founded by Emmanuel d' Alzon, the four companions passed his first vows in 1850. The original aim of the Order is to operate the Christian development of Eastern Europe and Russia was (see missionary order ).

1880 founded the Assumption, the newspaper ' La croix '. In Catholicism prevailed at that time - until about 1910 - Europe of anti-modernism. At that time, anti-Semitism was widespread in French society. This was evident in the Dreyfus affair (see also Chronology of the Dreyfus affair). Alfred Dreyfus was convicted twice wrongly ( between the two processes he suffered a nearly five-year incommunicado in harsh conditions on Devil's Island in French Guiana). Pierre Waldeck -Rousseau formed a new government in June 1899. He left soon dissolve it, among other things the Catholic Order of the Assumption in France.

Today's Order is primarily active in the training and development of Christianity and sought Christians of different faiths together.

Today the Order is represented in 27 countries around the world, including in Germany, but especially in Africa and Latin America. The members of the Order each live together for five friars.
